Living in the Palatinate

Grünstadt is located in the Leinigerland and therefore in the middle of the beautiful Palatinate on the Rhine – one of the most beautiful landscapes in Germany, not just the opinion of we Palatines. The pictures shown will certainly give you an impression if you haven’t been here yet.

Which is unfortunately difficult to convey in pictures: Here, openness and sociability are writ large! “Strangers” are quickly accepted and integrated, and it won’t be long until your neighbour invites you for a glass of wine. Speaking of wine, the Palatinate is often called the “Tuscany of Germany”. In other words, in addition to the very warm climate here for Germany, the people of the Palatinate enjoy the daily view over vineyards of Germany’s largest wine-growing region.

In just a few minutes by car, we Grünstadters find ourselves in the Palatinate Forest, the largest contiguous forest area in Europe, which families, sports enthusiasts and holidaymakers from near and far love to spend leisure time. Culture and history can be explored directly, for example, through the numerous castles and palaces. A wonderful place for young and old!

This beautiful location would not be as attractive if it was far away from important centres in Germany. As if! Because here, too, we Palatines can confidently say that we’re not entirely “off the beaten track”. We are located in the middle of Mannheim, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Kaiserslautern, Mainz and Frankfurt, all these cities are only 1 hour away by car. Incidentally, the Rhine-Neckar region is Germany’s seventh largest economic region and can be reached in just 15 minutes. This offers a wealth of shopping, educational, work and leisure opportunities for all interests and age groups.

Some example distances:

Frankfurt/Main Airport: 45 minutes
Hahn Airport („low-cost airlines“): 60 minutes

Universities of Mannheim, Mainz, Heidelberg: 15-40 minutes

Mannheim/Ludwigshafen shopping centre: 15 minutes

Skiing in the Black Forest: 2 hours
Skiing on the Vorarlberg: 3,5 hours

Lastly, the housing market is also a big plus for the region. In addition to all the advantages mentioned, you will find something for almost every taste: modern or classic and picturesque, vineyard location or forest location? Which do you prefer? Nevertheless, coupled with affordable rents (not everywhere!), the enjoyment of this quality of life is truly compelling.

You may now be wondering: “So where’s the catch?” And we reply: “Catch? Guess why we live here!”
